Westchester is a village in Cook County in the northeast of the US -amerikanischen State of Illinois and part of the metropolitan area to Chicago . In 2000 Westchester had 16,824 residents.

Westchester is 12 miles west of downtown Chicago.
US Highways 12 , 20 and 45 run through Westchester in a north-south direction . Interstate 294 , which forms a western bypass around Chicago, also runs west of the town in a north-south direction .
Westchester is 144 km north to Milwaukee , Rockford is 133 km to the northwest, the Quad Cities are 265 km to the west, Illinois' capital Springfield 309 km to the southwest and Indiana's capital Indianapolis 306 km to the southeast.

In the 2000 census, the population was 16,824. These were distributed over 7,015 households in 4,924 families. The population density was 2,053.7 / km². There were 7,058 residential buildings, which corresponded to a building density of 861.6 / km².
