history

In 1965 Bolingbrook was founded as a municipality with its own administration. The first major was John J. Leonard , who was also the chief of police at the beginning and who housed the police station and garage in his house. The community grew to 7,000 inhabitants by 1970.

After a strong increase in population and the incorporation of numerous neighboring settlements, there were already 37,000 inhabitants in 1980. By 1990 this number rose to 41,000, in 2007 the previous maximum of 75,000 inhabitants was reached.
