Carol Stream is a parish (with a status of "Village" ) in DuPage County in northeast Illinois . On January 5, 1959, Carol Stream was officially promoted to the Village. At the 2000 census , the place had 40,438 inhabitants.

Motto and name

Carol Stream's motto is A great place to live and work (translated: “A great place to live and work”). The village was named after the daughter of the founder.

geography

Carol Stream is 41 ° 55'19 "N 88 ° 8'27" W. It is in the northeastern state of Illinois, near Lake Michigan .

The community is located in the Chicago metropolitan area , not far from Chicago .

history

A British-American War veteran came to the area to farm around 1840. In the 1840s, more people came to buy land or settle in the area. In the late 1880s the area became known as Gretna .

Veteran Jay W. Stream came to the area over 100 years later. Im was advised by a Naperville official to start a village. So he bought land near Wheaton and started the village. Since his daughter had a serious accident in 1957 and the chances of recovery were not very high, he named the village after her.

Carol Stream is registered two years later .

The Carol Stream Public Library opened in 1962, and Glenbard North High School opened its doors six years later. In 1984 the village got its own post office.

In 2006, Jay W. Stream, the founder of Carol Stream, died at the age of 85. Three years later the community celebrates its 50th anniversary.

There are both Catholic and Protestant parishes in Carol Stream.

Catholics

The Catholic parish of Corpus Christi includes the Catholic churches of St Luke and Corpus Christi Church in Carol Stream. The community was founded in 1989 and in 1990 already comprised over 500 families.

Protestants

There are several Protestant parishes and churches in Carol Stream. Community Fellowship Church, Fellowship Church of Carol Stream, Heritage Presbyterian Church, Lutheran Church of the Master, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Praise Fellowship Church, St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Village Bible Church, and Wheaton Christian Church.

education

Most of the children in Carol Stream live in School District 93, a school district that ranges from Kindergarten to Grade 8. For secondary school after grade 8, the students therefore have to switch to other school districts. The schools in School District 93 are:

Carol Stream is approximately 20 miles from Chicago Airport , which is the closest international airport.

The highways Interstate 88 , Interstate 90 , Interstate 290 and Interstate 355 are close to Carol Stream. As it is in the metropolitan area of Chicago , it has excellent transport links.

Parks and recreation

There are several parks and recreation areas, both large and small, near Carol Stream, which would be the Carol Stream Park District, DuPage Forest Preserve, and the Great Western Trail. There are also two golf courses: the Coyote Crossing and the Klein Creek Gold Club.
