Fausto Zonaro
Fausto Zonaro (born September 18, 1854 in Masi , Italy , † July 19, 1929 in Sanremo ) was an Italian painter .
Fausto Zonaro trained as a painter in Italy and France and lived in Paris and Venice . From 1892 he worked as a court painter at the court of Sultan Abdülhamid II in Istanbul . After the sultan's deposition, he returned to Italy in 1911 and took up residence in a village not far from Sanremo. He became known through history paintings; His precise observations in the city of Istanbul are recognized. His 1909 painting of Shiites mortifying themselves was included in the permanent exhibition of Istanbul Modern .
