Johann Friedrich Dieterich

Johann Friedrich Dieterich (born September 21, 1787 in Biberach an der Riss ; † January 17, 1846 in Stuttgart ) was a German history painter and art school professor .

Dieterich received his training in Stuttgart from the Württemberg court painter and gallery director Johann Baptist Seele . For further studies he went to Italy, with a longer stay from 1820 in Rome. Dieterich achieved greater fame through his work for Rosenstein Castle in Stuttgart. As early as 1829, he was the main teacher of history painting at the newly established Royal Art School in Stuttgart, and in 1833 he was appointed professor (active until 1846).
