The Autobahnmeisterei Oelde (Böckenfördeweg 24, 59302 Oelde) is a road maintenance at the BAB 2 near the town of Oelde in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The motorway maintenance depot was opened on September 29, 1938. During the planning, great value was placed on a stylistic integration into the local architecture as part of the homeland security architecture. The Reichsautobahn at that time was one of the German cultural assets that also had an impact on its ancillary businesses. In addition to the purely formal criteria for the design of the depot, attention was also paid to the high-quality craftsmanship of the construction and the selection of building materials typical of the region: The motorway maintenance depot was built in the form of an agricultural homestead in brick construction.

Two locations were planned for the Kamen - Gütersloh motorway section , one in Kamen, the other in Beckum . The latter, however, was given up again because the scenic location did not meet the requirements; In Oelde, however, these conditions were met. After completion of the technical facilities, the factory building with offices, a residential building and the equipment hall followed between 1939 and 1940. In 1942, the gravel silo was built. After 1968, further buildings were built on the company premises to meet the increasing demands of increasing traffic.

The site stands as a complex of buildings under monument protection and is considered important and in the area of Westphalia-Lippe unique architecture historical evidence of Nazism .

A still functional air raid shelter and a small museum belong to the motorway maintenance depot. A contemporary mural was exposed again.
