Autodikos (son of Agathocles)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Autodikos ( Greek  Ἀὐτόδικος ; also called Autolykos / Αὐτόλυκος ), son of Agathocles, was a Macedonian soldier in the 4th century BC. He was probably the youngest brother of the future Diadochus Lysimachus and Philip , as well as presumably of Alkimachus .

Like his brothers, Autodikos probably took part in Alexander the Great's campaign in Asia , although he did not take part until after Alexander's death in 323 BC. Is called. After the end of the first Diadoch war in 320 BC At the conference of Triparadeisos he became one of the bodyguards ( somatophylakes ) of King Philip III. Arrhidaios ordered. Later, Autodikos and his wife Adeia are documented as a member of his brother's court. Apparently he had died before Lysimachus († 281 BC), at least it was he who donated a statue for his sister-in-law in the sanctuary of Amphiaraos in Oropos .
