Automatic test station

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An automatic test station (APrPl) is a function of a local exchange of a telephone network with the help of which a technician present at the customer can carry out certain tests of a telephone connection or telephone actually carried out by the exchange , without a second colleague having to work at the exchange. To do this, the automatic test station is called from the connection to be tested, followed by the number of the connection to be tested. In the case of analog exchanges, measurements of external voltage and insulation are carried out for a few seconds after the receiver is hung up . The connection is then called back and acknowledged with different audible tones depending on the result . Further tests can then be carried out to check the speaking area and number switch . In the case of digital exchanges, tests, for example, the keyboard and the charge indicator can be carried out.
