Avdel is a global company that produces blind riveting systems and associated processing equipment.

history

The brand name Avdel goes back over 75 years. It originated from "Aviation Developments", the original company name when it was founded in 1936, when the production of the specific range of magazine blind rivets for the burgeoning aviation industry began. In the 1950s, the company concentrated on offering new, value-adding assembly systems. This “system” concept achieved greater optimization and offered customers a single source of supply for reliable fasteners and processing equipment.

In 1961 the company was renamed "Avdel" and through significant growth over the next two decades, it became one of the world's largest manufacturers of blind rivets and processing equipment. With new locations in Europe, the USA and the Asia-Pacific region, the global expansion of the Avdel Group continued in the 60s, 70s and 80s. At the same time, a network of authorized dealers and concessionaires was established in more than forty countries.

In 1988, Banner Industries tried to take over Avdel in a hostile takeover. When Avdel's management was looking for a White Knight , Textron stepped in. In May 1989 the group was finally bought by Textron and renamed “Avdel Textron”. The group was integrated into Textron Fastening Systems, an amalgamation of fastening technology companies owned by Textron. In 2006 Textron Fastening Systems was sold to Platinum Equity , renamed Acument Global Technologies and structured into several market and region-oriented units. Within this group of companies, the Avdel organization was reintroduced as an independent unit - with greater autonomy in all business activities, investments and strategies.

In 2010, the Acument Global Technologies business units Avdel and Global Electronics & Commercial (“GEC”) were funded advised by CVC Asia Pacific Limited (CVC) and Standard Chartered Private Equity Limited (SCPEL). As a result, both companies were under the umbrella of the newly created company called Infastech (Innovative Fastening Technologies) with headquarters in Singapore. In 2013 Infastech was acquired by Stanley Black & Decker .
