The company is led by investor Tom Gores , who founded the company in 1995. Platinum Equity invests in, acquires and sells other companies around the world. In Germany, Platinum Equity became known through the acquisition and bankruptcy of DyStar . The takeover of the manufacturer of QuarkXPress also led to international media awareness.
