Ecka Granules is a German manufacturer of copper - and aluminum - metal powders based in Fürth. Together with the sister companies ACuPowder International and SCM Metal Products , Ecka Granules Holding Sàrl is owned by the American Platinum Equity .
history
Ecka Granules goes back to a gold beating Eckart & Krakenberger founded by Carl Eckart in Fürth in 1876 . In 1918 the Eckart company opened a bronze powder factory in Güntersthal . Aluminum powder has also been produced there since 1929 and dendritic copper powder has been produced in Pommelsbrunn since 1940 . At the end of the 1960s, the company opened the Alba ( Bahrain aluminum smelter ). The Mepura Metallpulvergesellschaft in Ranshofen, Austria, was founded in 1970 for the production of aluminum powder.
In 1998, Eckart took over the sliding bearing division from Th. Goldschmidt .
In 2001 the Eckart-Werke were split up into the Effect Pigments division , which was taken over by Altana in 2005 , and Ecka Granulate . In 2009 this had to file for bankruptcy and was taken over by Platinum Equity at the end of 2010.
