Avonbridge is a town in the Scottish council area of Falkirk . It is located on the eastern edge of Falkirk around eight kilometers southeast of Falkirk and 15 km west of Livingston on the Avon River . The name "Avonbridge" is derived from a historic bridge over the Avon at this location. The village is connected to the road network by the roads B825 and B8028, which intersect at Avonbridge. Not far from Avonbridge is the Gowanbank farm , which is classified as a monument of the highest category A.

In the 19th century, Avonside had a primary school for 150 students. Their catchment area included the towns of Muiravonside and Slamannan . Furthermore, a church of the later United Presbyterian Church of Scotland with 308 seats was built there in 1803 . In recent times the village has developed in connection with stone and coal mining. In 1961, 880 people lived in Avonbridge, in 2001 only 637 inhabitants were counted.
