Awalmir

Awalmir (* 1931 in Peshawar ; † April 24, 1982 in Kabul ) was an Afghan singer, musician and composer.

Awalmir ( Pashto اولمير) sang some pieces of music at the age of 10. His first music teacher with songs from the language and literature of Pashto was Jafar. Later he learned music and singing from Sabs Ali, who took over his guardianship and care after the death of his parents . Although he took the young musician with him to concerts, he was initially against his voice being broadcast on the radio.

In 1948, at 17, Awalmir took part in the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Afghan independence. There he met Mohammad Amin Malang Jan. Malang introduced him to Radio Kabul RTA . Awalmir did not return to his hometown of Peshawar and stayed in Kabul.

Awalmir composed some pieces of music that he sang with Gulistan . He composed and sang about 250 songs, lieder and choirs in Pashto.
