Life

Langevin grew up in Kenogami, a place near Jonquière (now a district of Saguenay ), an industrial city north of Québec . Langevin described himself as a daydreamer who was only interested in metal , progressive rock and science fiction and who spent most of his youth in a vivid fantasy world. As a child and adolescent, he already spent his free time drawing and playing the drums. During this time, characters like Korgüll and Voivod emerged , which later formed the conceptual basis of the band Voivod. Langevin attended his hometown high school , where he met Denis D'Amour, four years his senior . Both were interested in music and began jamming together in the late 1970s, forming the high school band Death Dealer in 1980 and Voivod in November 1982. Since then, Langevin has been the band's drummer and is also responsible for all of Voivod's artwork. After recording the debut album War and Pain in 1984, Langevin dropped out of his nuclear physics studies at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi in Saguenay, left his parents' home and moved to Montreal . There he was initially dependent on welfare and was able to live for the first time in 1987 from the royalties that he and his fellow musicians achieved with Voivod. Langevin has been a professional musician ever since. Langevin has been creating his graphics on the computer since the 1989 album Nothingface . From the mid-1990s Langevin began to work on commission and designed record covers for bands such as Probot, Non Phixion and Danko Jones. In 1990 he appeared as a live drummer with Men Without Hats , played the drums on their 1991 album Sideways and collaborated with JG Thirlwell in his project Steroid Maximus . In the mid-2000s he was one of the founders of the experimental rock band Kosmos . In 2007 he founded the band Les Ékorchés with musician friends, with whom he released three studio albums until 2011. Since 2013 he has been the drummer in the band Tau Cross around the Amebix founder Rob Miller, the debut album was released in 2015 on Relapse Records .
