Under the name Probot , Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl released a metal album in 2004 , which contains eleven pieces that Grohl had recorded with eleven different vocalists from other metal and hardcore bands .
background
Grohl wrote the songs with the aim of matching the person he hoped for as a singer. He then sent the respective recording to the singers, who wrote a text for it and added the vocal track. Some guitar parts were also contributed by musicians such as Matt Sweeney ( Guided by Voices ) and Kim Thayil ( Soundgarden ). The work was released by the American metal label Southern Lord .
Grohl worked on the project for several years, initially he had also hoped to work with the late Chuck Schuldiner and Tom Araya , which was not possible due to illness or scheduling problems.
According to his own admission, Grohl, who has been a metal fan since childhood, fulfilled a long-cherished dream with this project.
