Thomas Gabriel Fischer (born July 19, 1963 ), also known by his stage name Tom Warrior or Tom G. Warrior , is a Swiss singer and guitarist . He was best known as the lead singer of Celtic Frost . He is considered a pioneer of growling in death metal .

Career

Together with Steve Warrior, he founded the band Hellhammer in 1982 . At that time he also called himself "Satanic Slaughter". In 1983 bassist and songwriter Martin Eric Ain joined them. After a series of demos and the EP Apocalyptic Raids , the band broke up in 1984.

Fischer and Ain founded Celtic Frost that same year. Fischer also produced the first demo for Coroner in 1985 , two of which were roadies for Celtic Frost.

In 1994 Fischer founded Apollyon Sun and turned to EBM and industrial sounds. In 2004, he was at Dave Grohl's project Probot involved.

In 2004, Fischer was voted number 32 of the 100 best metal guitarists by Guitar World magazine . In 2010 he received the prize in the category "Inspiration" at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards .
