Axes

The Ax with the Axenstrasse

The Axen is the steep face above the east bank of Lake Uri , the southernmost part of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. These are the parts of the two mountains Fronalpstock and Rophaien facing the lake .

The famous, sometimes boldly laid out Axenstrasse leads along the Ax from Brunnen via Sisikon and the Tellsplatte to Flüelen . A cable car goes from Flüelen to the Ober Axen .

As rock falls and debris flows on the Axen occur again and again , the Axenstrasse has been closed several times in the past.
