Axel Griesbeck

Axel Georg Griesbeck (born September 7, 1958 in Seeheim-Jugenheim ) is a German chemist and has been the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Cologne since 2009 .

Life

He completed his chemistry studies at the University of Munich in 1980 with a diploma. In 1984 he received his doctorate under Klaus Gollnick at the University of Munich . Between 1988 and 1990 he worked on his habilitation at the University of Würzburg . Since 1994 he has been Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Cologne. The focus of his work is in the field of photochemistry .

honors and awards

In 1997 Griesbeck received the Grammaticakis Neumann Prize of the Swiss Society for Photochemistry and Photophysics and in 2009 the Honda-Fujishima Award of the Japanese Association for Photochemistry .
