Axel Jahnz

Axel Jahnz (born July 19, 1957 in Buxtehude ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been Lord Mayor of the city of Delmenhorst since November 1, 2014 .

Life

Axel Jahnz was born in Buxtehude in 1957. He spent his childhood and youth in Delmenhorst. He started his professional career in 1976 as an apprentice administrative clerk at the city administration. After nine years with the Delmenhorst city administration, he moved to the church administration office in Delmenhorst / Oldenburg-Land, where he was most recently administrative manager. He was then mayor of the municipality of Hude (Oldenburg) from 1998 to 2014 .

In June 2013 he announced that he no longer wanted to run for the mayoral election in Hude (Oldenburg). Instead, he wanted to run for the SPD in Delmenhorst. This nominated him on December 2013. Jahnz was the only applicant within the SPD after the resignation of the incumbent Mayor of Delmenhorst Patrick de La Lanne , who had left the SPD two weeks earlier. On May 25, 2014, he was finally elected the new Lord Mayor of Delmenhorst with a result of 63.1 percent. He took up this office on November 1st of that year. The term of office is seven years and ends on October 30, 2021.

Jahnz is divorced and has three children.
