Axel Reimann

Axel Reimann (born July 23, 1951 in Berlin ) had been a member of the board of directors of the German Pension Insurance Association since October 1, 2005 and its president from April 2014 to December 2016.

Life

Reimann was born in Berlin in 1951, where he also attended school until 1971 (most recently: Lilienthal-Gymnasium in Berlin-Lichterfelde) and then studied mathematics and business administration at the Free University of Berlin until 1977 . In 1977 he passed the diploma examination in mathematics.

From 1977 to 1983 he worked at the Free University and the Technical University of Berlin as a lecturer and research assistant. In 1982 he received his doctorate with a thesis entitled "Cost plans adaptive sample plans".

From 1983 to 1987 Reimann worked as a consultant in the basic department for actuarial mathematics and social law issues at what was then the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees (BfA) . In 1992 he took over the management of this basic department at the BfA, from 1992 he was head of the rehabilitation department (Dept. 80) of the BfA. In 1999 he moved to the Association of German Pension Insurance Institutions (VDR), where he was deputy managing director until September 2005.

With the organizational reform of the statutory pension insurance in Germany and the merger of the BfA and VDR to form the German Federal Pension Insurance Association on October 1, 2005, Reimann became a member of the three-person board of the pension insurance institution. On April 1, 2014, he succeeded Herbert Rische in the office of President of the DRV Bund. On January 1, 2017, Gundula Roßbach took over this position as President, as Reimann retired due to old age.
