Axel Ruoff

Axel Ruoff (born March 24, 1957 in Stuttgart ) is a German composer.

Life path

Ruoff studied a. a. at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart . His teachers included u. a. Milko Kelemen , Rolf Hempel , Diego Feinstein and Erhard Karkoschka . He graduated with "summa cum laude" in music theory and piano, and in 1984 in composition. With a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Culture, he studied from 1985 to 1988 at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music Arts with Hiroaki Minami and also completed master classes, a. a. at Isang Yun .

From 1983 to 1985 he was a lecturer in music theory at the Trossingen University of Music . Since 1992 he has been a professor at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, from 2006 to 2010 he was vice dean and from 2010 to 2014 dean of studies. From 2003 to 2008 he was also a lecturer in music theory at the Church Music College in Tübingen .
