Axel Valentin Rydin (born February 14, 1887 in Linköping , † May 13, 1971 in Norrköping ) was a Swedish sailor .

successes

Axel Rydin, who for the Norrköpings Segelsällskap sailed, was in 1920 in Antwerp at the Olympic Games in the 40-m-class Olympic champion . Along with Yngve Holm and Georg Tengvall, he was a crew member of the Sif , one of two boats of his class in the competition. The skipper was Yngve Holm's brother Tore .

40 m² skerry cruiser

Both yachts came from Sweden, between which there was no real competition on the water. The regatta consisted of three races. In the first, both participating yachts Sif and Elsie were disqualified because they had not sailed the correct course. In the second race, Sif won because Elsie had problems with her rigging and could not finish the race. Elsie could not fix these problems until the third race and therefore could not start. So Sif sailed the course alone and won the gold medal.
