Axel Springer Foundation
The Axel Springer Foundation emerged from the DIE WELT Foundation in 1966 . It was named after the publisher Axel Springer , the founder of Axel Springer AG .
The Berlin-based foundation supports scientific, charitable and non-profit goals. This includes research projects, dissertations , conferences, art and cultural assets. In addition to health and youth care, individuals in need such as former actors, journalists and refugees are also supported. One focus of the foundation's work is in Israel , which also includes equipping clinics and social facilities that are used by the Arab population, as well as Israeli-Arab coexistence programs. The foundation's explicit purposes include promoting tolerance, reconciliation between Jews and Germans and supporting the rights of the Israeli people to live.

- Steel sculpture Têtes et Queue by Alexander Calder (1965) to the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in 1966
- On loan of the violin König Maximilian by Antonio Stradivari (1709) to Michel Schwalbé from 1966 to 1992

From 1968 to 1980 Hans Eberhard Friedrich was chairman of the foundation's board of directors, from 1981 to 2010 Ernst Cramer . Friede Springer is now the chairwoman of the board.
