Axel Stepken

Axel Henning Stepken (born August 23, 1958 in Essen ) is a German manager and has been CEO of TÜV SÜD AG since 2007 .

Life

Axel Stepken was born in Essen in 1958. After graduating from high school in Essen, he completed the Bundeswehr from 1977 to 1978. From 1978 to 1984 he studied electrical engineering with a focus on energy technology at RWTH Aachen University . From 1984 to 1990 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for General Electrical Engineering and High Voltage Technology at RWTH, where he received his Dr.-Ing. PhD . He has been an honorary professor at the Technical University of Munich since 2015 .

Career

After completing his doctorate, Stepken started working at ABB in 1991 as a project manager for automation technology in high-voltage switchgear. In 1995 he moved to PT ABB Transmission and Distribution in Jakarta , Indonesia, as Managing Director . In 1998 Stepken became managing director of ABB Airport Technologies in Mannheim . In October 2002 he was appointed to the board of TÜV Süddeutschland Holding AG in Munich . Since 2007 he has been Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV SÜD AG.
