Axiata Cup 2012

The Axiata Cup 2012 was the first edition of this badminton competition . It was held in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur . In this first edition only men's teams from Southeast Asia start.

From March 23rd to 25th, 2012, a preliminary round was held in two groups of four in the mode everyone against everyone. Teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines took part, with Malaysia and Indonesia each having two teams. On March 30th and April 1st, the two first-placed teams played the semi-finals in a return match, the winners played the finals on April 13th and 15th. The total prize money was one million US dollars, of which 400,000 dollars went to the winner, 200,000 dollars to the runner-up, 100,000 dollars each to the defeated semi-finalists and 50,000 dollars each to the teams eliminated in the preliminary round.
