The Ayr Bruins were an ice hockey club in the city of Ayr in Scotland . The Bruins played in the British Hockey League from 1982 to 1992 .
history
The team was founded in 1939 under the name Ayr Raiders. The team first played in the Scottish National League , whose championship they won in 1952 and 1953, respectively. After the dissolution of the Scottish National League, the Raiders moved to the 1954/55 season in the British National League , whose last place they occupied. From 1963 to 1966 the team played under the name Ayr Rangers, then for 25 years as Ayr Bruins. From 1982 to 1992 the team belonged to the Premier Division of the British Hockey League , the then highest British ice hockey league . Most recently, the team played again in the 1992/93 season under the name Ayr Raiders in the second-rate Division One of the British Hockey League.
From 1996 to 2002, the Ayr Scottish Eagles played another team from the city in the Ice Hockey Superleague .
