Azúcar Negra

Azúcar Negra is a Cuban salsa and timba band .

Career

The band was founded in 1997 in Santiago de Cuba . "Azúcar Negra" was also the title of an album produced in 1993 by the also Cuban salsa singer Celia Cruz . The group consists partly of musicians from the band Bamboleo, who recorded the album "Yo no me parezco a nadie" with the musical director Leonel Limonta. Azúcar Negra has already toured Europe and played in New York City at Lincoln Center and Copacabana. The lead singer Haila Mompié , who left Bamboleo with Limonta , started a solo career after the first CD. Her successor for the next three albums was Ailyn Dallera.
