Azines (heterocycles)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Azine is the generic term for six-membered, heterocyclic compounds with one to four nitrogen atoms in the ring, such as azine (s), diazines , triazines and tetrazines . Most common names are permitted for azine and the diazines : pyridine , pyridazine , pyrimidine and pyrazine . The azines are heteroaromatic compounds. The azines with their derivatives and hydrogenation products are widespread as natural substances . This is especially true for pyridine and pyrimidine derivatives, which are found in nature as alkaloids , vitamins and nucleic acids . Azines are polar , water-soluble compounds and weak bases , the base strength of which decreases as the number of nitrogen atoms increases.
