Level of the Commodore 64 version

  • The Gauntlet ( running the gauntlet ): The pawn runs towards a pyramid. Aztec warriors stand left and right and throw spears at two different heights at the game figure, which has to duck or jump for protection. The response time is very short.
  • The Stairs ( stair ): The character runs a flachstufige stairs while stone blocks roll down from the top, the player must dodge to the left or right.
  • The Temple ( Temple ): The character has to be controlled to the right, thereby falling stones or spears of the ceiling. Trap doors also open in the floor. The traps are generated randomly. The player has to jump to dodge.
  • The Vermin ( vermin ): The player walks through a corridor and animals fall from above.
  • Hopaztec ( rumgehopse ): This level is based on the principle of trial and error. The player has to cross a room with ornate mosaic tiles. But most of the floor slabs trigger arrow traps. Only a certain sequence of panels is safe to walk on. The safe path changes after each new attempt.
  • Piranhas: A wide river has to be crossed by swimming. Unfortunately it is teeming with piranhas . The player must avoid the fish by diving maneuvers and stopping.
  • The Bridge ( Bridge ): The player has a badly patched suspension bridge crossing. He has to overcome the gaps with short or long jumps.

graphic

The graphics corresponded to the standard of the time.

Musicians of the Commodore 64 version

The well-rated SID music comes from Paul Norman , who also wrote the music for Beyond the Forbidden Forest .

Level of difficulty

The game is extremely difficult because it requires very quick reactions and those over a long period of time.

... a real challenge for even the experienced gamers, and ranks among the most difficult Commodore 64 games ever created. Review by sashanan on honestgamers.com.

Ports

particularities

The Piranhalevel (C64) could only be achieved on a color monitor. On the monochrome monitors customary at the time, the piranhas could not be distinguished from the water.
