Azuki Island (from Japanese あ ず き 島 Azuki-shima , German ' Adzuki Bean Island ' ) is a small island off the coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located 1.5 km west of the Rundvågshetta headland in the Lützow-Holm Bay .
The island was mapped on the basis of measurements and aerial photographs of a Japanese Antarctic expedition that lasted from 1957 to 1962, the participants of which also gave the name. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1968. In Norway the island is called Bauna (translated bean ).
