Azzedine Mihoubi ( Arabic عز الدين ميهوبي, DMG ʿIzz ad-Dīn Mīhūbī ; * January 1, 1959 in Aïn Khadra , M'Sila Province , then French Algeria , now Algeria ) is an Algerian journalist , author and politician .

Life

Mihoubi studied journalism and sculpture at the Algerian École nationale d'administration d'Alger from 1979 to 1984 , from which he graduated in 1984 with a doctorate . From 1986 to 1990 he was the office manager of the Ech-chaab newspaper in Sétif before becoming editor-in-chief there from 1990 to 1992. After some time as the editor of a private sports newspaper, he became a member of the National People's Assembly , the parliament of his home country, from 1997 to 2002 . From 2006 to 2008 he headed the Algerian Radio and from 2010 to 2013 the National Library of Algeria. From 2015 he was the country's minister of culture.

In the presidential election in December 2019 , he received 7.26% of the vote, placing him in 4th place.

Publications

Mihoubi has published four novels and several collections of poetry so far. He has received various prizes and awards.
