history

Wooden buildings in the zero-energy city of Mietraching designed by B&O

The company was founded in 1958 by Edith Bihler, Max Oberneder, Gustav Dick and Udo Lindauer as a roofing company. It was initially named after the families of the first two founders, Bihler and Oberneder . In 1989 the company, which has meanwhile developed into a roof and facade construction company, was sold to private equity investors. After a management buy-out , B&O was converted into a technical service provider for maintenance, renovation and new construction / timber construction in 2004. As a result, only the first letters of the founders Bihler and Oberneder remained in the company name.

In 2014, the Hamburg energy service provider Urbana , which belongs to the Kalo Group, took over the B&O Heating, Energy and Measurement Technology (B&O WEM) company from the B&O Group, which specializes in decentralized energy concepts and renewable energies.

Today the B&O Group is particularly well-known as a service provider in the field of ecological housing, solar architecture and timber construction.

Companies

The company is divided into the areas of construction, service and technology. In the 2019 financial year, all B&O companies focused on construction and modernization were merged into a construction holding company.

In 2016, Andreas Böhm (board member at B&O) bought the company Sensopia, which developed the magicplan app . With this application, floor plans of rooms or buildings are created very easily with the camera of a tablet or smartphone. Thanks to image recognition, 3D room dimensions can be created with the mobile phone.

Projects

In 1999, the craft company was asked to renovate the roof of the Munich Olympic Stadium with its 8,300 Plexiglas panels - an order of the century and today part of the B&O logo. The project was a milestone in the company's history and at the same time a turning point.

Nationally known projects of the B&O housing industry include the development of the zero-energy city of Mietraching and one of the tallest wooden buildings in Germany, the eight-storey wooden house H8 .
