Bärbel Meurer (* 1944 ) is a German sociologist.

After studying sociology in Frankfurt , Münster and Berlin , she became a student of Max Weber in 1972 with a dissertation on human beings and capitalism. On the relationship between sociology and reality doctorate .

In 1984 she completed her habilitation in Osnabrück with a study of civil culture and social democracy. A history of political ideas in German social democracy from its beginnings to 1875 . She teaches as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Osnabrück University . As a humanities and historically oriented scientist, she published mainly about Max and Marianne Weber .

Bärbel Meurer lives in Bielefeld.
