Bürgle

The Bürgle , also called Altheim Castle , is an abandoned castle near the municipality of Altheim in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg, 2700 meters southwest of the town of Riedlingen, 500 meters southwest of the Altheim church.

The Lords of Altheim were mentioned between 1127 and 1246, they were probably ministerials of the Counts of Veringen . The castle went to the Habsburgs in 1291 . In 1358 it was referred to as the Burgstall, in 1827 remains of the curtain wall were still visible, today no structural remains of the castle have survived. The "Bürgele" parcel is built over today. Only the street name "Auf dem Bürgele" still refers to the castle.
