The b.com GmbH was a service and trading companies in the IT industry . The target group were small and medium-sized companies , offering PCs, PC components, software, accessories, EDP peripherals and consumer electronics. The company was based in Cologne and had locations in Braunschweig , Giessen and the Balearic Islands . The company was founded in 1996 as a sole proprietorship , converted into a GmbH in 1997 and has been a stock corporation ( b.com Computer AG ) since 2002 . In June 2011, the company founder Horst P. Beck and his Osmab Holding AG sold b.com to Torsten Belverato and Thomas Hoffmann.

On March 15, 2013, the company submitted an application to the Cologne District Court to open insolvency proceedings after the credit insurer Euler Hermes had already canceled its credit lines two days earlier.

On March 27, 2013, the company announced in a press release that at the end of March 2013, operations would be transferred to b.com GmbH , which would be taken over by Wortmann AG as a new investor. The b.com GmbH remained as an independent company with the majority received the 115 jobs and the sales offices. The insolvente b.com Computer AG is being wound up as part of the insolvency proceedings.

After b.com's warehouse and logistics were merged with the Wortmann subsidiary Kosatec Computer GmbH at the beginning of 2014 , Torsten Belverato left the company and Siegbert Wortmann took over the sole management of the company. As of May 1, 2014 Kosatec took over the entire active business of b.com and also the remaining 35 employees.
