Constructive features

Underframe

The frame: The car was made entirely of iron and was riveted together from rolled sections. The outer side rails were U-shaped with outward-facing flanges. The wagons had VDEV screw couplings as the towing device, and the drawbar was spring-loaded throughout. The wagons were equipped with rod buffers with an installation length of 650 mm, the buffer plates had a diameter of 370 mm. The height of the buffers above the SOK was 1,040 mm.

drive

The wagons had riveted half-timbered axle brackets made of flat iron with the short, straight design. The axles were stored in sliding axle bearings. The wheels had spoked wheel bodies and a wheel diameter of 1,014 mm. The type I car had an axle base of 4,250 mm to the end axles, the type II one of 4,500 mm. The central axis could be moved sideways.

In the raised, Bavarian-style brakeman's house, accessible from both sides, there was a hand-spindle brake that acted on both end axles on both sides. In some of the Type II wagons, the central axle was also braked.

Car body

The car body framework consisted of a wooden frame work. It was clad with sheet metal on the outside and wood on the inside. The side walls were slightly indented on the underside. The wagons had a high arched roof of southern German design. The raised, closed brakeman's cab was accessible from both sides and integrated into the roof.

The interior had a total of four compartments with upholstered benches, one in 1st class with 5 seats and three in 2nd class with 7 seats each. The row of compartments was seen from the brakeman's cab: II, II, I, II, II. The cars had a total of 4 toilets , each compartment was connected separately to one of them by a side door.

The wagons were heated by steam .

The ventilation took place via slats and flaps in the area of the windows and doors.

The lighting was carried out by gas lamps , the storage containers with a total volume of 1,200 liters hung on the frame in the longitudinal direction of the car.

comment

With the change in the carriage services subordinate compartment 1st class without modification of the seat division has been redrawn to such 2nd class and the cars were given a modified generic name .
