BB Medtech (spelling: BB MEDTECH) was one of the world's largest investment companies in the medical industry.

The company relied on its own fundamental analyzes and held selectively investments in qualified medtech companies. The company held stakes worth around 1.2 billion Swiss francs. The securities portfolio usually consisted of three to four core positions and up to ten smaller investments. The share of unlisted companies could not exceed 10 percent. The core holdings consisted predominantly of medium-sized European companies with a leading market position, which have an above-average increase in earnings and / or growth potential in the medium to long term and are attractively valued.

BB Medtech was founded on November 14, 1995 in Schaffhausen (Switzerland). Since 22 December 1995, the bearer shares of BB Medtech on the Swiss stock exchange SIX Swiss Exchange listed , since July 8, 1998, at the German stock exchange in Frankfurt, where it since 2007 in the segment Prime Standard are traded.

In July 2009 BB Medtech announced the intention to convert from an investment company to an equity fund under Luxembourg law. This was carried out by means of a public exchange offer to the shareholders by Vontobel Beteiligungen AG at the end of September 2009 and BB Medtech AG subsequently dissolved. The fund will continue to be managed by the Bellevue Group .

Heinz "Heino" von Prondzynski was last Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 2008; he succeeded Ernst Thomke , who had held this office since April 2000. Vice-president was Wolfgang Reim.

Bellevue Asset Management AG , which belongs to the Swiss Bellevue Group and is based in Küsnacht ZH, was commissioned with the areas of fundamental analysis, portfolio management, marketing and administration . Investment decisions have been delegated to Asset Management BAB NV , Curaçao (Netherlands Antilles).

In addition to BB Medtech, the BB Group also included BB Biotech and the venture capital company BB Biotechventures II . The equity capital in the individual biotech companies is held indirectly via the 100% subsidiaries Biotech Focus NV , Biotech Invest NV , Biotech Target NV , Biotech Growth NV , each also based in Curaçao.
