St. Gallen branch on the market square

Vontobel is organized into three units: Wealth Management (previously: Private Banking), Investment Banking and Asset Management .

Wealth management

The Wealth Management business area comprises wealth management, investment advice, and wealth and tax planning for wealthy private clients. The subsidiary Vontobel Swiss Wealth Advisors is an investment advisor registered with the US regulatory authority SEC and manages the assets of US persons.

Investment banking

The investment business concentrates on the business with derivative products, securities and foreign exchange trading, institutional sales, the support of independent asset managers, transaction banking and corporate finance. The business model of Vontobel Investment Banking cannot be compared with the traditional Anglo-Saxon approaches, as Vontobel does not operate on the capital-intensive commercial side of the business. Trading activities are limited to hedging risk positions resulting from issuing and selling activities with structured products and derivatives. Bankhaus Vontobel is one of the five issuers with the highest turnover in the German derivatives market.

Asset management

Vontobel Asset Management is an active asset manager. Various competence centers look after institutional and private customers. Vontobel also holds a majority stake in Harcourt Investment Consulting AG, an international provider of investment funds, especially for institutional investors.
