Vontobel Foundation

The Vontobel Foundation , based in Zurich, is a non-profit Swiss foundation that was established in 1993 by the Swiss banker Hans Vontobel (1916–2016).

The core of the performance is a package of shares in Vontobel Holding , which it was possible to top up with further donations from private patrons. The foundation is supervised by the Office for Occupational Pensions and Foundations of the Canton of Zurich .

The foundation finances projects of non-profit Swiss institutions in the fields of medical research, social work, home and cultural care, nature conservation and culture, especially in the greater Zurich area. Individual projects can be funded with a grant of up to CHF 30,000.

Prices

The foundation finances the prize for age research awarded annually by the Center for Gerontology at the University of Zurich . The prize is awarded to persons or organizations who are involved in research on gerontology in Switzerland from all relevant scientific fields. The prize is endowed with CHF 30,000 and is usually divided between three winners.

Publications

In the series of publications of the Vontobel Foundation, brochures appear every 3 months as contributions to the discussion on current and fundamental issues in business, society and politics. Each of the approximately 100-page booklet is written by a single specialist author.
