The Billard Club 1921 Elversberg (short: BC 1921 Elversberg ) is a billiard sports club with a focus on the discipline of carom .

timeline

After the neighboring community of Spiesen had founded the “Fidello” billiards club in 1908, Elversberg, a mining community with 5,000 inhabitants, was only able to set up its own club 13 years later, on September 13, 1921. The 32 founding members gathered in the “Karl Euschen” restaurant. They stated that the most important club goal was to want to relax after a hard day's work underground while playing billiards. That Tuesday, the founding meeting elected master baker Karl Moritz as chairman. In the same year the neighboring community of St. Ingbert also founded a billiards club. The best prerequisites for hosting friendly matches. In fact, the two clubs maintain a friendly relationship to this day.

In the 1934/35 season, the club was able to win a team title for the first time. Since then, the club has played in the top division of Saarland. In 1936 a cup was won. Due to the war, only juniors were played until 1945 as the seniors had moved in. After the end of the war, attempts were quickly made to resume regular gaming operations. The renewed interest in active sport was restricted by the Gouvernement Militaire de la Sarre , the French occupying power. There it said: "According to this, every sporting activity, regardless of what kind, must be summarized in the so-called" omnisport club ", whereby a" politically burdened person "is not allowed to hold any function. After the dissolution of the military government, the associations were released into their independence again and could now decide for themselves about their future. At BC 1921 Elversberg, the u. a. to purchase a " half match board ". The acquisition of new and larger tables and a higher number of tables made it necessary to change the venue several times in the following years.

The recruitment of old billiards master August Wagner from Saarbrücken as a trainer for the BCE youngsters soon led to the formation of a new, successful junior tribe. He gave young players such as Willi Höhn, Walter Mees, Gerhard Böllert and Gerd Wilhelm a modern approach to play, especially the " American Series ". Success was not long in coming. The juniors soon pushed their way into the first team, with Willi Höhn as the top player. Höhn achieved the first national success for the club after he became German champions in the free game in Bergisch Gladbach in 1956 with a GD of 50,900. In 1961 the BCE is the organizer of the German championship in Cadre 38/2 and Höhn, then chairman and organizer of this championship, becomes runner-up. Guido Schmitt becomes German champion in 1963. After internal quarrels, a second billiards club was founded in Elversberg in 1969, with the result that some strong players emigrated to the re-establishment.

In 1971, for the 50th anniversary of the BCE, a new club house was looked for and found with the "Hüttenschänke". According to the slogan "calm and camaraderie before performance" one can build on old successes again. With Jürgen Reinermann, as top player, and Guido Schmidt, Rolf Horst and Werner Bayer, the 1st team becomes champions of the national league in 1974 and is promoted back to the top division. In 1975 and 1976 the 2nd team with Gerhard Feller, Wolfgang Reger, Heinrich Klemann Jr., Charly Baumhardt, Werner Görlitz, Eckhart Wagner and Achim Feller won the Saarland twice in a row. In 1975 Jürgen Reinermann became German champion in the free game. In 1976 Achim Feller followed him as German youth champion. The sporting success not only increased the number of members, but also the skill level. The BCE was able to field a second, third, fourth and even fifth team. The club room was rebuilt and expanded to create more space for another half-match pool . Later on there was finally match billiards to get back into the three-cushion game.

The continuing increase in membership made the clubhouse too small again. In 1978, the BCE moved to the restaurant "Am Bavarian Forest". Two match billiards and two half-match billiards could then be set up there.

After the chairman Willi Höhn had dubbed the appearance of his teams at tournaments as “parrot look”, uniform player clothing was introduced for the first time in 1985. A year later, in 1986, Volker Marx became German youth champion. In the same year Klaus Bosel was third in the binding at the German championship.

In 1992, the BCE also took up the pool discipline and acquired two more tables. The club room, which had become too small, was expanded again to create enough space for the now six tables and their players.

In 1995 the club was able to sign the world-class player Frédéric Caudron .
