The large extension to the clinic was completed in 1970. Another expansion took place five years later. The sanatorium now had a capacity of 180 beds. In 1984 it was renamed “Neurological Clinic Elzach”. In 1995 the new building for the department for neurological early rehabilitation was opened with two new stations.

On January 1, 2009, the name was changed to "BDH-Klinik Elzach" in order to emphasize the clinic owner in the name (BDH Bundesverband Rehabilitation; BDH stands for Bund Deutscher Hirngeschädigte , name of the association from 1974 to 1994). Another extension building, which connects the two south-facing wings of the clinic, was completed in October 2009 and put into operation. In this context, all stations were restructured.
