After the First World War , on February 18, 1920, people with brain injuries founded the Association of German Brain Wounded Warriors in Bavaria in Munich . V. This was followed by comparable organizations in the other countries of the German Reich . In 1927 the clubs in Frankfurt am Main merged. The Association of German Brain Wounded Warriors was founded. V. During the time of National Socialism there was no self-help work. After the Second World War , on December 16, 1945, the Association of Brain-Wounded War Victims and Labor Victims was formed in Bonn . He continued the self-help work by offering rehabilitation in his own clinics . As a result, a nationwide network of clinics and district associations developed. In 1974 the name of the association was changed to Bund Deutscher Hirngeschädigte (BDH) . From 1994 this was called the BDH Federal Association for Rehabilitation and Representation of the Interests of the Disabled . In 2008 the association was named BDH Bundesverband Rehabilitation .

Members

In particular, include brain damage , victims of war , military service, Damaged , labor and accident victims , paraplegics , survivors and social pensioners to the BDH.

Field of activity

The BDH offers outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation. The association provides legal advice and represents members from authorities , insurance companies and instances of social justice . Information on the activities of the BDH can be found in the journal BDH-Magazin published by the association .

Facilities

The BDH clinics offer neurological rehabilitation. The facilities of the Federal Rehabilitation Association include the BDH Clinic Elzach , the BDH Clinic Greifswald and the BDH Clinic Hessisch Oldendorf as well as two other clinics in Braunfels and Vallendar , as well as the BDH Therapy Center Ortenau in Gengenbach . The Bruder Klaus Hospital in Waldkirch has also been part of the association as the BDH Clinic Waldkirch since April 1, 2019 .
