After the end of the Second World War , the "Central Association of the German Guarding Trade eV" was founded in Frankfurt am Main as the central organization of German security companies. 25 years later, the central association was renamed “Bundesverband Deutscher Wach- und Sicherheitsunternehmen eV” (BDWS) in 1973. In October 1990 an amendment to the statutes made it possible to accept members from the new federal states . On May 26, 2011, the general meeting decided to rename it to its current name and thus also to expand the association's goals and target group.
