The nine electric multiple units of the Bremgarten-Dietikon-Bahn (BD) are referred to as BDe 8/8 , which were purchased in 1969 when the voltage was increased from 900 to 1200 volts direct current.

Technical

The vehicles have a three-part car body , the car bodies are connected by two Jakobs bogies. The middle car body has a folding door in the middle and a luggage compartment with sliding door on one side and a two-wing passenger compartment on the other. The two end cars have a folding door behind the driver's cab and a five-wing passenger compartment. The vehicle only has 2nd class seats. Each of the four bogies has a 200 hp electric motor that drives both axles.

Operational

Until the delivery of the Be 4/8 21-25 in 1993, the railway handled all scheduled passenger traffic with these railcars. The two BDe 4/4 (10 + 11) adapted to the new voltage were mainly used for freight and service trains . With delivery of the ABe 4/8 in the years 2010–2011, the railcars will be decommissioned and demolished. Only car number 7 is to be preserved as a historic vehicle.
