BHF was an Austrian hardcore punk band that was founded in 2007 in Wiener Neustadt .

history

BHF was founded in 2007 by Andreas Wagner (guitar, vocals), Franz Wagner (bass, vocals), Dominik Langer (drums, vocals) and Stefan Traper (vocals). After a few local shows, the first demo was released in 2008, on which mostly German was sung and the sound of which could still be assigned to German punk.

In 2008 the band recorded their first studio album, Profit über Menschen , which was released in 2009 as part of a short European tour with shows in Hungary, Serbia, Austria and Germany. At the beginning of 2010, Stefan Traper left the band and the three of them decided to continue. From then on, Andreas Wagner took over the lead vocals.

At the end of 2010 they went back to the studio to record the 7 " Ingnorance is Bliss . The band's music has changed a lot after the previous singer's departure. From now on, mainly English lyrics were written and the sound no longer reminded of the earlier German punk Songs, but went more towards hardcore. Ignorance is Bliss was released on the Wiener Neustädter label Laserlife Records in May 2011. This was followed by a two-week European tour. In 2012 the band went on a European tour again, this time without a new release .

At the end of 2012, the recording of the second studio album, Shoplifting at Stock Markets, began in the Wiener Neustädter Tape Attack Studio . In the meantime, Christian Hirsch joined the band as the second guitarist. The record was released on CD and vinyl on May 24, 2013 via Laserlife Records. At the same time the next European tour started with shows in Austria, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Great Britain.

In December 2013, the band announced Dominik Langer's exit on Facebook. In March 2014 Georg Wlk joined as the new drummer. On October 18, 2014, BHF released two new songs under the title September . Both songs deal with the military coup in Chile on September 11, 1973 and have been released as tape and poster including digital download.

On March 21, 2017, the band announced the release of their new album Days of Dissent on May 12, 2017. At the same time, the breakup of the band after two farewell concerts on May 12 and 13, 2017 was announced. On May 13th 2017 the band played their last concert, which took place in the Triebwerk, Wiener Neustadt .

style

The vast majority of all previous BHF songs deal with political issues. On Shoplifting at Stock Markets , for example , the band deals in the song G184 with the coup of the then Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide . In Fences in the Desert , the restrictive immigration policy of the northern industrialized countries is discussed. In further songs the band speaks out against the concept of the nation state, property, capitalism and racism.
