The BKK Bauknecht was a German statutory health insurance from the group of company health insurance funds .

It was founded on August 1, 1953 as a company health insurance fund for Bauknecht GmbH . In 1983 the name was changed to BKK Bauknecht. Initially, only Bauknecht GmbH employees were able to take out insurance from the company health insurance fund. Since 1996 the health insurance company has also been open to members from other professional groups, but only from the states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Bremen, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saarland, Saxony and Thuringia. The basis for this was the right to a free choice of health insurance fund introduced in 1996. On January 1, 1998 a merger with BKK Werner & Pfleiderer GmbH took place; On October 1, 1999, there was another merger with BKK Breuninger, the company health insurance fund of Breuninger GmbH .

On January 1, 2005, BKK Bauknecht merged with BeneVita BKK and CITY BKK . CITY BKK was adopted as the name for the new company health insurance fund.
