The City BKK was a German health insurance company of the statutory health insurance from the group of company health insurance and was closed on June 30, 2011th
The BKK had its origins in the Land Berlin and Land Hamburg as well as the companies Bauknecht and C. Baresel .
history
City BKK was created in 2004 from the two company health insurance funds BKK Berlin and BKK Hamburg . A year later, the BKK Bauknecht and the Benevita BKK joined. The fund with 400 employees and 130,000 insured persons (as of June 2011) was for Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland and Westphalia-Lippe (North Rhine-Westphalia), Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt (Halle and Magdeburg), Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia open. It was based in Stuttgart and had offices in other federal states. The umbrella organization of the City BKK was the BKK Landesverband Baden-Württemberg. In 2009 and 2010 it built up around 50 million euros in debt. Just like the BKK für Heilberufe and the GBK Köln , the City BKK had filed for insolvency with the Federal Insurance Office in order to prevent a delay in bankruptcy. She was threatened with bankruptcy on September 1, 2010; On November 19, 2010, the ailing City BKK was initially averted.
On June 30, 2011, the City BKK was closed by the Federal Insurance Office due to a no longer secure economic capacity. This BKK was the first health insurance company to become insolvent after the introduction of the health fund . By the end of June 2011 it had five branches, around 400 employees and 130,000 insured persons. All business of the City BKK be from 1 July 2011 by the City BKK public corporation in settlement handled (KöRiA).
Sick cash register
Between mid-2009 and February 2011, City BKK ran its own range of services for young people under the name of the Illness Fund . This website tried to meet the needs of this target group. Due to austerity measures, the brand was discontinued on February 22, 2011.
Contribution rates
Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. Since April 1, 2010, City BKK has been charging an additional, income- independent, health insurance contribution of EUR 8.00 per month. This additional contribution was increased to 15.00 euros on January 1, 2011. With the judgment of the Berlin Social Court , the implementation of this contribution collection by the City BKK was declared void. One insured person was able to successfully defend himself against the levy because City BKK did not adequately point out an existing extraordinary right of termination ; the corresponding notices from the health insurance company had to be revoked. However, the judgment is not yet final due to a possible appeal to the Potsdam Regional Social Court.
