Social Court Berlin
The Social Court Berlin (SG Berlin) is the lower court of the State of Berlin in the field of social justice . It is one of the 69 social courts in Germany.

The SG Berlin is locally responsible for the area of the State of Berlin .
Seat of the court
The social court is located on Invalidenstrasse opposite the Berlin main train station in the Mitte district of Berlin, near numerous tourist attractions ( natural history museum , museum for the present ). The courthouse was built in 1875. The architect was Friedrich Neuhaus . It originally served as the administration building of the Berlin-Hamburg Railway Company .
Before that, the Berlin Social Court was housed from 1954 to 1968 in the house of the former Reich Insurance Office on Reichpietschufer .

The Regional Social Court of Berlin-Brandenburg and the Federal Social Court in Kassel are superordinate to the instance .
President of the court and management
President of the Social Court in Berlin is Hans-Christian Helbig, who was previously the court's vice-president. The position of Vice President has not yet been filled. The manager is Olaf Heise.

It is the largest social court in Germany with 201 chambers (GV-Pl 2014). In 2010, 43,951 complaints were received, including 31,776 complaints in the Hartz IV area. In June 2010, the one hundred thousandth lawsuit under SGB II / ALG II (Hartz IV) since January 1, 2005 was received.
