history

In 1961, the BKK Werra-Meissner was founded as the company health insurance fund of Massey Ferguson GmbH. At that time, employees and their families as well as former employees were allowed to take out insurance with her after they retired. The small BKK Massey Ferguson employed five people at the time, who were responsible for looking after around 1,800 members. Ernst-Dieter Mäurer has been the board member since the beginning.

From BKK Massey-Ferguson to BKK Werra-Meissner

When freedom of choice was introduced for all insured persons in the statutory health insurance in 1996, the BKK Massey Ferguson opened up as the first North Hessian company health insurance fund, initially for the state of Hesse and a short time later also for the state of Bavaria. The name of BKK Massey Ferguson was changed to BKK Werra-Meissner in order to document the connection to the region. Since then, everyone who lives or works in Hesse or Bavaria has been able to take out insurance with the BKK Werra-Meissner.

Since the opening, the number of insured persons at BKK Werra-Meissner has risen steadily. Over 38,000 (as of 2018) people are now insured with her.
