The BREM-K ( Russian Бронированная ремонтно-эвакуационная машина К [колесная] ; German: "An armored repair and recovery vehicle [wheel]") is a Russian lighter armored recovery vehicles , which on the armored personnel carrier BTR-80 is based, in the 1990s the Russian armed forces was introduced. Development history
The recovery vehicle BREM-K was developed in the Gorkowski Avtomobilny Sawod in the 1980s under the direction of A. Masyagin. The first prototype was completed in 1988 , and the vehicle was introduced to the Russian army in 1993.
technology
The armored recovery vehicle is based on the eight-wheeled 8 × 8 armored transport BTR-80 , so the construction shows strong overlaps with the original vehicle . The amphibious BREM-K has a water jet drive unit at the rear of the vehicle, with which speeds of a maximum of 9 km / h can be achieved in the water. The Brem-K is of a water-cooled YAMZ-240 - Turbo Diesel engine driven (four-cycle) with 260 hp (191 kW). The V-12 engine positioned in the rear of the vehicle has a displacement of 22,299 cm³ and produces a maximum torque of 1,275 N · m at 1,500 rpm. The armament includes a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun for self-defense against ground and air targets. In addition, the BREM-L has various smoke release cups .
Recovery technology
The BREM-K is equipped with a winch for pulling vehicles that are unable to maneuver. In order to stabilize and fix the vehicle on the ground, it is equipped with two hydraulic lowerable supports on the front of the vehicle, which are operated from the driver's seat. With the help of a trailer coupling, broken down vehicles can be pulled. To lift loads, a tower can be mounted on the front of the vehicle, which can be connected to the winch. Loads of up to 1.5 tons can be lifted with it. A welding generator, which is housed in the interior and is driven by the engine via a belt drive, enables welding work to be carried out . There is a loading platform on the recovery vehicle in which equipment and spare parts can be carried.
